    Until absorption into the Birmingham Evening Mail in late 1986, Dudley was served by the Dudley Evening Mail. As part of the record-breaking nationwide tornado outbreak, Dudley was struck by an F1/T2 on 23 November 1981. Built into the castle grounds, Dudley Zoo houses a collection of endangered species, and the largest collection of Tecton buildings in the world.

    Sir Gilbert Claughton and The Blue Coat School merged to form Castle High School, as well as The Dudley, in the town other schools include Rosland Secondary School, which, in 1970, became part of The Blue Coat School, and Park Secondary School.
